Tablet PC Technology Forum - October 14

Jennifer SnodgrassAppalachian State University’s Broyhill Music Center will host a free demonstration of the applications of tablet computers and educational software in the music curriculum for music technology coordinators, teachers, university personnel, industry leaders and musicians on Oct. 14.

Schedule of Events

Dr. Jennifer Snodgrass, an assistant professor in Appalachian’s Hayes School of Music, will demonstrate how she uses the technology in her classes beginning at 1 p.m. in Room 204 Broyhill Music Center.

At 1:35 p.m., representatives from DyKnow Software, Microsoft, and SOUNDTREE will demonstrate uses of Tablet PCs and DyKnow Software. Representatives from HP, Lenovo, and Dell will be in attendance to answer questions about their specific products. A preview of Microsoft’s Windows 7 will be included in the demonstration.

Dr. William L. Pelto, dean of the Hayes School of Music, and Dr. Anthony G. Calamai, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, will talk about blending technology in the music and physics classrooms, and how research at Appalachian will focus on the use of Tablet PCs to enhance student learning.

During the software demonstrations, approximately 20 Tablet PCs will be available for use by attendees.

A question and answer session will follow with Snodgrass, Laura Konkle, president of DyKnow Software, Chad Kearsley, Cameron Evans from Microsoft, Craig Fetterolf from HP, and Robin Hodson from SOUNDTREE.

Parking

Parking for guests will be available along River Street in front of the Broyhill Music Center. There will also be limited parking in the Rivers Street Parking Deck.
