Ron Harper of Charlotte has donated $1 million to Appalachian State University to support the flexography program in the Department of Technology. The Harpers are the founders of the global anilox supplier Harper Corporation of America. The gift, made in honor of Harper’s wife, Katherine, will support the flexography education program, student scholarships and other needs of the Department of Technology. more

The Communication Disorders Clinic at Appalachian State University has been named for Winston-Salem residents Charles E. and Geneva S. Scott.The couple has made a gift of real estate valued at $307,000 to the North Carolina Scottish Rite Masonic Foundation to support the activities of the clinic at Appalachian. more

Marriage and family changed Tony Payne’s plans for a career as a science teacher. But a different career path didn’t dampen his love for botany that was kindled when he was a student at Appalachian State University. To recognize Payne’s passion for education and his love of science, Appalachian has dedicated a botany lab in his name. more
