The Division of University Advancement at Appalachian State University supports and encourages the university’s academic mission by engaging alumni and friends and the local community.
University Advancement staff help connect these constituents with the university through one-on-one contact, news and information, and special programming, thereby securing the university loyalty and financial resources necessary to create the best possible learning environment for Appalachian students and to best serve the citizens of North Carolina.

Staff Recognition Award
nominate a co-worker
University Advancement employees are encouraged to nominate co-workers for outstanding performance throughout the year. Nominations should include a description of how the staff member has gone above and beyond their responsibilities or performed in an exceptional way. All staff are qualified to be nominated regardless of their tenure or permanent/temporary status. Nominations can be submitted at any time during the year and must be sent by hard copy or e-mail to Susan Pettyjohn. She will randomly select one recipient from the pool every two months and make a presentation at the division staff meeting.
