To Appalachian Alumni, Parents and Friends:
As our students gather on campus to begin another exciting year, it is appropriate that we take this moment to recognize the contribution and involvement of all who have made commitments of support to Appalachian State University and its students, faculty and staff. We are pleased to note that thanks to them, the Appalachian State University Foundation again had a successful fundraising year, raising a total of $11.7 million (face value) in cash and in-kind gifts during the year ending June 30, 2007.
As we enter our 37th year, the Foundation continues to provide additional financial support for the needs of the university and to help students, faculty and staff develop and succeed. This support takes many forms, including student scholarships, faculty teaching awards, the Freshman Seminar program, international study programs, the annual convocation program and other teaching and learning initiatives. This year the university was able to introduce a new program called Appalachian ACCESS, which will help our lowest income students earn a college degree with as little debt as possible.
Your gifts to Appalachian also provide direct support to a myriad of other programs and organizations, including the Appalachian Today magazine, the Parents Association, the Mountaineer Marching Band and Alumni Association programming, just to name a few.
We also thank the Foundation’s board of directors for their tireless work on behalf of so many and sincerely appreciate the time and financial support they have provided in order to continue to fulfill the mission of the Appalachian State University Foundation. They have helped make a positive contribution to the lives of so many.
