To Appalachian Alumni, Parents and Friends:
It is my honor and privilege to share this annual report of the Appalachian State University Foundation. Donors take great pride in Appalachian. They contributed more than $12.56 million in cash, securities and in-kind gifts to the Foundation and University in fiscal year 2008-09.
Without your financial support, Appalachian's nationally recognized academics and transformative co-curricular opportunities would not be possible. Together, we are creating the best possible learning environment for our students. This environment includes more student scholarships; the enhancement of freshman learning communities, international study, the annual convocation program and other teaching and learning initiatives; and greater support for faculty and staff development and rewards for excellent work.
Gifts to the Foundation also provide direct support to other University programs and organizations such as Appalachian Today magazine, the Parents Association, the Mountaineer Marching Band, Alumni Association programming and more.
There are many people who work tirelessly to advance Appalachian and its students, faculty and staff. On behalf of the Foundation's Board of Directors, I thank everyone for their time, resources and continued interest in making Appalachian State University the best it can be.
